The Bering Norris motorcycle jacket takes its styling straight from the classic U.S. Army M65 jacket worn during the Vietnam war and then later by the peace loving Hippies.

The Bering Norris Jacket is based on the M65 military jacket

I had been looking for a textile jacket for the summer when I stumbled across the Bering Norris and instantly liked it.

As it turns out the Bering Norris jacket has a 150g fully removable cotton thermal liner for the colder months and is also waterproof so it can be used all year round if required.

Thermal liner is removable making the Bering Norris jacket suitable for all year riding

As of writing I have only worn it in the Summer without the liner and can confirm it’s nice and cool and such a nice change to lugging the 6 and a half stone of leather around. I’ve also been caught in a few Summer down pours and it is definitely waterproof.

It has a waterproof but breathable membrane laminated to the inside of the jacket so although it is waterproof, the outer still feels nice and soft.

Amazingly at this price point the Bering Norris jacket also comes with both shoulder and elbow CE approved armour. The shoulder protection isn’t noticeable but the elbows were a bit on the bulky side so I’m replacing it with the new D3O Ghost armour which is much thinner.

It’s also got a pocket for a back protector should you want to fit one.

This motorcycle jacket can easily pass as a regular casual jacket. I did find the sleeves were purposely on the long side once you dismounted but it has several press stud options on the cuffs and once I used a tighter setting the problem was soon fixed.

The waist can also be adjusted as can the removable collar buckle.

The collar belt can be removed if you prefer

Like the original M65 it has 4 large external pockets which are fastened shut with velcro. Inside there’s just the 1 large pocket.

Again, just like the original M65 army jacket the Bering jacket zips shut and then a storm flap goes over the zip and is fastened with press studs.

Some of the buyer reviews are saying it comes up a little tight and that you should order a size up. I’m usually a large so ordered the large and found it a very good fit.

Having said that, the liner is out and I’m only wearing a T-shirt under it. Winter with a jumper on and the liner back in may be a different story so if you plan on buying it as an all weather jacket, it may well be wise to go a size up.

If you want this as a warm weather jacket then get your usual size.

I’m more than a little impressed with this jacket. Apart from the fact it’s a cool looking jacket, the quality is far above what I was expecting for a jacket retailing at well under £200. It’s just so well made that once your jacket arrives you can’t understand how they have managed to keep the price so low.

Currently Sports Bike Shop are offering the Bering Norris jacket with 20 quid off making it just £150 which is an absolute steal. They ship worldwide and you can buy it here
